Damak, April 1:

The Damak municipality office is yet to collect around Rs 3.5 million from contractors under different heads. “Steps are underway to form a mechanism with the help of representatives from eight parties to collect dues and clear defaults of local agencies in the district,” said an official Pashupati Khatiwada in the Damak municipality office.

“Damak Livestock Market is the main source of income for Damak municipality office. However contractors are not paying dues which they (contractors) have to pay under different heads of contracts,” Khatiwada said.

Forty-six Village Development Committees (VDCs) in the district are yet to collect Rs 13.7 million dues in the district. Similarly, the District Development Committee is yet to collect Rs 12.2 million in dues.
