KATHMANDU, MAY 4

The number of foreign tourists visiting Mustang district has seen a significant rise in the first four months of 2025, with a 36.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Office in Jomsom, a total of 51,896 foreign visitors arrived in Mustang as of April. Of them, 8,745 were from SAARC countries, while 43,151 came from other nations.

ACAP Jomsom Chief Rajesh Gupta said 37,974 tourists had visited the district between January and April in 2024.

Local hoteliers say the rise in tourist numbers is due to Mustang's breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cultural heritage, and the spiritual draw of Muktinath Temple-a sacred destination for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims, especially Indian devotees.
