Fourth NRN conference to kick off in US from May 29

KATHMANDU: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) is organising

the fourth NRN regional conference from May 29 to May 30 in Houston, USA.

Until now, NRNA has organised three regional conferences and this upcoming conference will focus on issues relating to Nepal with a global participation. The theme will be “Channelling Knowledge and Investments for Nepal’s Rapid Development.”

To best utilise the strength of the diaspora in the region, the conference is looking to focus on knowledge and skill exchange, collective investments, and charitable contributions for a prosperous Nepal. Diverse sessions will revolve around the conference theme for mobilising knowledge and investments for a prosperous Nepal. The conference sessions will address critical topics like foreign investment, knowledge exchange and charity.

The conference is expecting the participation of a business delegation from Nepal as well as ministers from various sectors. NRNA has also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal. Some 300 NRNs from all over the world are expected to attend this two-day conference. The organising committee members are hoping the plenum will help find viable solutions for development aid to Nepal as well as the involvement and participation of the youth and women.

Sherpa’s bid

KATHMANDU: NRN A C Sherpa, who has climbed six of the seven highest world summits, is going to climb mount Everest in the shortest period of time and gain himself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the first individual to climb all seven summits of the world in the shortest time. Sherpa climbed the six summits in six continents within a span of 26 days, “I am looking to climb Mt Everest in about 25 days if weather conditions and environmental factors permit,” said Sherpa.
