The gold price reached a new height in the domestic market following a Rs 1,800 per tola rise on Thursday.

The yellow metal has been on a steep upward trajectory since the announcement of the budget for the fiscal year 2080/81, which included a 5% increase in customs duty on gold.

Fine gold is being traded at Rs 144,000 per tola today, significantly up from Rs 142,200 per tola on Wednesday, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association.

Gold had previously set a record on June 4, reaching Rs 142,700 per tola. It then dropped by Rs 500 per tola on Wednesday but rebounded on Thursday, continuing its upward trend.

Similarly, Tejabi gold is being traded at Rs 143,300 per tola today, compared to Rs 141,500 per tola on Wednesday.

Silver, which also witnessed a decline on Wednesday, rose today. Silver is being traded at Rs 1,850 per tola, up by Rs 25 per tola from Rs 1,825 per tola on Wednesday.
