KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 23
Gold price in the domestic market surged sharply on Tuesday, rising by Rs 5,500 per tola in a single day to set a new historic high.
With the increase, the price of fine gold has reached Rs 267,200 per tola, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association.
The gold price has been on a strong upward trend in recent days, setting new records almost daily and making the yellow metal increasingly expensive for Nepali consumers. On Monday alone, gold prices had risen by Rs 3,400 per tola.
Silver price also continued its upward momentum in the domestic market. On Tuesday, silver rose by Rs 20 per tola to reach Rs 4,255 per tola, up from Rs 4,235 per tola on Monday, the federation said.
