Green pumps in France

Paris, September 25:

French finance and economy minister Thierry Breton said on Sunday he would unveil within days biofuel ‘green pump’ which will offer motorists ‘a green fuel that costs much less’.

“I will announce in several days the launch of green pumps serving bioethanol throughout the country,” the minister said in a television interview. “It is possible to have green fuels that cost less,” said Breton.

The European Commission said on Friday that farming of biofuel crops has become viable in Europe as oil prices rise as it proposed a series of proposals to further encourage a switch to green fuels.

When asked about whether motorists, which in France overwhelmingly prefer diesels, will need to change vehicles, Breton said he had a number of good surprises left on taxes and cars.
