House committee passes bill on SEZ

KATHMANDU: The Parliament's Committee on Industry, Commerce and Consumers' Right has passed a bill on establishment, operation and management of special economic zone with amendments.

Committee Chair Bhishma Raj Angdambe informed that the bill was passed with the amendment of section 9, 19 and 43.

The bill's Section 9 has the provision on permit limit and renewal, while Section 19 on formation of the board of directors, and Section 43 on not allowing works jeopardising industries.

The meeting suggested the government not to allow the establishment of industries relating to tobacco and liquor which are black listed as per the Industrial Act while prioritizing the industries to be established under the SEZ.
