A mid-zone regional business fair is to be organised by Janakpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) to help boost business houses and industries in the Terai region.
The fair hopes to bring in some positive changes in the business sector in the area.
The fair would be organised in the coming month of Chaitra and there are plans to include products from neighbouring countries like India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.
A recently held meet of businessmen at Jaleshwor had decided to organise the business fair in Janakpur. The festival would be organised either on the playground of Janakpur Cigarette Factory or the historical Barabigha ground, and would give special importance to locally produced items.Ram Naresh Prasad Shah, chairman of JCCI, said that cigarette, paper, sugar, plywood and Maithil art would also be exhibited during the fair.
More than 250 stalls would be set up during the fair and would be decorated attractively.
Chairman Shah informed that preparations for the fair is going on and a meeting would be held soon to implement the plans.
He further informed, "Business and industries are likely to get a special boost following the gathering of businessmen and consumers during the fair.”
The series of violence and bloodshed in the country has adversely affected the economic structure.
These types of fairs could act as a balm on the wound, say organisers.
