Laxmi Bank’s e-banking is ‘secure’
Kathmandu, July 24:
Laxmi Bank’s Internet Banking (web) system has been awarded ‘A’ (highly secured) grading by an independent information security auditor.Arif Ahmed & Associates, an Indian Chartered Accountancy firm, has recently carried out a comprehensive audit of Laxmi Bank’s Internet Banking (web) system.
“The firm, which is empanelled with the ministry of information technology, government of India as Information Security Auditors, rated the bank’s e-banking system ‘A’,” states a press release issued here. The audit was conducted as per the auditor’s proprietary ISecGrade met-hodology where ratings from A (Highly Secured) to E (Highly Risky) are awarded. These grades represent the quality of IT systems and potential of an organisation’s information system to meet security threats.
This audit rating follows the Information System Audit conducted last year, for which ‘highly secured’ rating was awarded. Laxmi Bank is the first and the only Nepali bank to have its IT systems audited by an independent body.
“The purpose of having the Internet banking and related systems/services audited by an international firm is in line with our position as the market leader in electronic banking
and compliments our efforts in enhancing the use of internet banking as a preferred service delivery channel and promoting it as a safe and convenient means of banking,” said Suman Joshi, chief executive officer.
