Tucked away in the serene hills of Nepal, just a short drive from the spiritual calm of Namobuddha Monastery, Dusit Thani Himalayan Resort has quietly carved a niche for itself as a destination where luxury feels deeply personal. Now, with a new Hotel Manager at the helm, the resort is entering a fresh phase, one that blends thoughtful hospitality with a renewed focus on experience-led travel.
Q. First of all, how has the journey been stepping into this role over the past few months?
A: It's been incredibly rewarding. Over the past four months, I've had the chance to truly understand the rhythm of the resort such that its people, its guests, and the unique energy that surrounds it. This isn't just any property; it's a place where nature, culture, and hospitality come together beautifully. What's been most special is seeing how naturally that sense of calm and connection resonates with our guests, and I'm excited to continue building on that foundation.
Q. What drew you to this resort in particular?
A: The location is truly something else. Being so close to Namobuddha Monastery gives the resort a very unique character, with a peaceful spiritual energy and stunning Himalayan views. Beyond the setting, it's the Dusit Thani brand that really drew me, the legacy of thoughtful service, Thai-inspired hospitality, and attention to detail aligns perfectly with my philosophy of creating meaningful guest experiences. Together, the location and the brand allow us to offer something that goes beyond a typical stay.
Q. What's your vision for the resort moving forward?
A: I'd love for us to be known as a place where people come not just to stay, but to feel something, whether that's relaxation, inspiration, or reconnection. We want to continue growing as a luxury destination, especially for wellness, weddings, and curated experiences.
Q. Nepal is drawing more luxury travelers these days. How is the resort catering to that trend?
A: It's an incredibly exciting time for Nepal. Guests are seeking meaningful and immersive experiences, and Nepal offers that in abundance. At our resort, we're combining authentic local experiences with refined luxury, and wellness plays a central role in that. Through Devarana Wellness, our guests can enjoy signature treatments, holistic therapies, and
curated wellness journeys that complement the serene surroundings. It's about creating a balance where luxury, authenticity, and well-being coexist seamlessly.
Q. The resort seems to be gaining traction for weddings, corporate retreats and events. What's the plan there?
A: It truly has, and we're grateful for the response. The natural beauty of the destination already provides an exceptional canvas, and we've intentionally designed our offerings to adapt to a wide spectrum of events rather than a single format. From grand weddings on the expansive lawn and elegant ballroom celebrations to intimate gatherings, bespoke social occasions, and focused corporate retreats, each event is approached with a fresh perspective. Our spaces and experiences are flexible by design, allowing us to curate every detail around the client's vision.
Q. What's something new guests can look forward to at your resort?
A: We're looking at enhancing experiences like small, thoughtful touches that make a big difference. It could be anything from more immersive local experiences to personalized wellness offerings. The idea is to make every stay feel intentional.
Q. How important is sustainability and local culture to you?
A: Very important. We're surrounded by such rich culture and natural beauty and it's our responsibility to respect and preserve it. We want guests to experience Nepal authentically while supporting the local community and environment. From our own organic garden and a strict no-plastic approach to a zero-waste mindset among our team, sustainability is thoughtfully woven into everyday operations and the guest experience.
Q. How would you describe the experience of staying here in one sentence?
A: I'd say that it's a place where time slows down and every moment feels intentional.
Q. And finally, what kind of leader are you?
A: I'd like to think I'm approachable and people-focused. Hospitality, at its core, is a people-driven industry, and I strongly believe that when a team feels genuinely valued, supported, and inspired, it naturally translates into exceptional guest experiences. I strive to create an environment where ideas are welcomed, individuals feel empowered, and everyone takes pride in what we deliver together.
