KATHMANDU, APRIL 06
The Nepal Dairy Association (NDA) has demanded the government to provide vaccine against the coronavirus to farmers, industrialists and workers engaged in dairy sector.
As the government has placed dairy industry under the essential sector during pandemic, NDA has stated it should prioritise dairy industry workers while providing vaccine against COVID-19.
Citing that the dairy workers had worked even during the lockdown despite the risk of contracting the virus, NDA has stated the government must prioritise them for vaccination.
The NDA submitted a request letter to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) today urging essential action. NDA has demanded that around 500,000 farmers working in the field of milk production and 30,000 workers involved in the industrial sector across the country be prioritised for inoculation.
The association has requested the MoALD as well as the Ministry of Health and Population, Provincial Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, National Dairy Development Board to make the vaccines available for the dairy sector workers. The association has also sent the copy of request letter to all 753 local bodies seeking their initiative to provide vaccine to the dairy workers in their respective areas.
