Nepal asks AIIB to invest in big development projects

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara on Thursday asked the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank President Jin Liqun to extend investment to various large-scale development projects in Nepal.

While Jin paid a courtesy call on him on the sidelines of the Nepal Investment Summit being held in the Capital, Mahara said he was coordinating with line ministers to ensure smooth operation of the projects.

In response, the AIIB head said the bank was always ready to invest in Nepali projects while suggesting that Nepal should focus on completing the projects on time.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Darbar.
