KATHMANDU, AUGUST 14

The Hotel Association Nepal, in collaboration with tourism stakeholders, is organising a programme on September 17 to promote Nepal as a prominent meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition (MICE) destination. The programme scheduled for Sunday will be held with a primary objective to tap into the high potential of MICE tourism in Nepal.

The programme is part of the HAN's annual action plan and aims to establish Nepal as a prominent destination for MICE at both national and international levels. In the programme, stakeholders will also prepare appropriate strategies to capitalise on this potential, and initiatives to further boost tourism activities in the country.

"Along with international fairs, meetings/conferences, the trend of sending people on foreign tours for the promotion of business is increasing worldwide, even in neighbouring India and China. As thousands of wedding couples and their family members come to Nepal every year from neighbouring countries, the upcoming programme is expected to further promote such events and initiatives in the country," a statement released by HAN reads.

Stating that Nepal's hilly and plain regions alongside trekking areas and religious sites have the potential to attract corporates, additional policies, guidelines, infrastructure, manpower and effective programmes need to be in place to further promote such initiative, according to HAN.

Representatives of member hotels, relevant government officials, experts, tour operators, officials of tourism-related associations and media workers have been invited to the programme.
