The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index continued its fall on Thursday too with the sole secondary market of the country recording 76.65 point drop to 2,812.39 points.

The benchmark index, which opened at 2889.21 points had, at one time, dropped 90 points and tried to recover but settled with a 2.65 per cent drop at the end of the last trading day of the week.

Similarly, the sensitive index and float index also recorded a negative trend with the sensitive index closing at 525.78 points indicating a 12.73 point or a 2.36 per cent fall.

Meanwhile, the float index closed at 196.66 points with a 5.58 point or a 2.76 per cent drop.

A total of 16,468,508 units of shares of altogether 229 companies were traded at Rs 9.033 billion in the market today, marking a significant rise in the daily turnover.

After the share transaction, market capitalisation stood at Rs 3.935 trillion.

Meanwhile, all the sub-indices also recorded a loss today with the life insurance and non-life insurance indices leading the pack of losers with 452.59 points and 383.70 point loss.

In today's market, only two scrips advanced while all the other 183 scrips declined.

Nepse index had dropped 40.26 points with just Rs 5.358 billion daily turnover on Wednesday.
