KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 12

After a small gain on Wednesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dipped on Thursday, shedding 20.16 points, marking a 1.06 percent decline, to reach a total of 1874.60 points.

In a similar fashion, the sensitive index, which evaluates the performance of 'A' class stocks, experienced a positive shift, recording a 0.81 percent gain of 2.95 points, closing at 359.13 points. The float index, which reflects the performance of actively traded shares, increased by 1.10 percent, or 1.45 points, reaching 130.01 points.

A total of 7,558,542 units of shares from 292 companies were traded in 62,046 transactions, resulting in a total turnover of Rs 1.088 billion. The daily turnover in today's trading session reached Rs 1.700 billion, showing an increase from Wednesday's total daily turnover of 1.28 billion.

The total market capitalization reached Rs 2.872 trillion.

Among the sub-indices, all experienced negative performance, except for the Mutual Fund index, which gained 0.16 percent. The hotel and tourism index was the top loser in today's trading session, dropping by 3 percent, followed by the hydropower index with a 1.59 percent decline and the non-life insurance index with a 1.52 percent drop.

Bhagawati Hydropower Development Company Limited and Mid Solu Hydropower Limited were the top gainers in today's trading session, both with a 10 percent gain, while City Hotel Limited was the top loser with a 9.09 percent drop.

Laxmi Sunrise Bank Limited Promoter Share was the most traded scrip, with 1,638,484 units of shares traded for a total of Rs 163,848,400.
