The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 11.97 points (0.45%) on Wednesday, closing at 2,646.95 points at the end of the trading session.

In contrast, the Sensitive Index, which tracks class 'A' companies, rose by 0.57%, while the Float Index, representing actively traded shares, increased by 0.52%.

A total of 313 companies were traded, with 13.78 million shares exchanged across 59,130 transactions, generating a daily turnover of Rs 5.16 billion.

Despite the benchmark index's drop, only two sectors posted gains - Mutual Fund (0.46%) and Trading (0.49%). The remaining sectors closed in the red, though none lost more than 1%.

Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited (OMPL) was the sole stock to hit the upper circuit, standing out in an otherwise subdued session.

Of the total traded stocks, 66 advanced, 181 declined, and one remained unchanged. By market close, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.408 trillion.
