KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 20

On the first trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a gain of 1.39 points, marking a 0.07 percent rise, bringing the index up to 1853.48 points on Monday.

Although the benchmark index rose by 1.39 points, the sensitive index, which evaluates the performance of 'A' class stocks, saw a decline of 0.14 percent, shedding 0.05 points and closing at 356.54 points. The float index, which reflects the performance of actively traded shares, however, increased by 0.082 percent, adding 0.10 points to reach 128.18 points.

During the trading session, a total of 3,319,558 units of shares from 284 different companies were exchanged in 44,727 transactions, resulting in a total turnover of Rs 1.099 billion. The overall market capitalization reached Rs 2.857 trillion.

For the day, all the sub-indices were in the green except for the four sub-indices. The Manufacturing and Processing index led the pack of losers with a 21.91 percent loss or a 95.31 point decline, followed by the Hotels and Tourism index with a 21.83 percent or a 91.84 point decline, Microfinance index with a 1.42 percent or a 48.48 point loss, and the Other index with a 0.13 percent or a 1.93 point loss.

The top three losers of the day were Forward Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Sayapatri Hydropower Limited, and Mathillo Mailun Khola Jalvidyut Limited.
