KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 22

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed an increase of 20.67 points, marking a 1.13 percent rise, bringing the index up to 1850.33 points on Wednesday.

Along with the rise in the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which evaluates the performance of 'A' class stocks, saw an increase of 0.61 percent, rising by 2.15 points and closing at 354.21 points. The float index, reflecting the performance of actively traded shares, also increased by 0.97 percent, adding 1.23 points to reach 127.79 points.

The sole secondary market of the country had lost 23.82 points on Tuesday after gaining just 1.39 points on Monday.

During the trading session, a total of 4,213,285 units of shares from 294 different companies were exchanged in 43,583 transactions, resulting in a total turnover of Rs 1.087 billion. This is a slight increase in daily turnover from Tuesday's figure of Rs 950 million. The daily turnover on Monday was Rs 1.099 billion. The overall market capitalization reached Rs 2.852 trillion.

For the day, all the sub-indices were in the green except for the Mutual Fund index, which lost 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the Hotels and Tourism index led the pack of gainers with a 3.49 percent or 167.43 point gain, followed by the Hydropower index with a 2.36 percent gain. Today, a total of 195 scrips advanced while 40 declined and 3 remained unchanged.

Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited was the top company with the most transactions and turnover, with its scrips traded in 11,204 transactions for Rs 107,603,983.
