KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 23

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed an increase of 9.87 points, marking a 0.53 percent rise, bringing the index up to 1860.20 points on Thursday.

Along with the rise in the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which evaluates the performance of 'A' class stocks, saw an increase of 0.78 percent, rising by 2.76 points and closing at 356.98 points. The float index, reflecting the performance of actively traded shares, also increased by 0.54 percent, adding 0.69 points to reach 128.48 points. The sole secondary market of the country had gained 20.67 points on Wednesday.

During the trading session, a total of 4,420,518 units of shares from 292 different companies were exchanged in 48,493 transactions, resulting in a total turnover of Rs 1.348 billion. This is a slight increase in daily turnover from Wednesday's figure of Rs 1.087 billion. The overall market capitalization reached Rs 2.868 trillion.

For the day, all the sub-indices were in the green except for the three sub-indices. The Banking sub-index led the pack of losers with a 0.72 percent loss or an 8.49-point decline, followed by the Microfinance index with a 0.28 percent or a 9.45-point decline, and the Other index with a 1.10 percent or a 1.45-point loss.

Meanwhile, the Life Insurance index was the top gainer with a 3.37 percent or 330.66-point raise.

In today's trading, Nabil was the company with the top turnover at Rs 131,076,105.80, while Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited led in volume and transactions with 332,905 units of shares traded in 7,864 transactions.
