KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 17

In a positive turn of events, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) increased by a double-digit 13.18 points on Tuesday, marking a 0.71 percent increase, bringing the index to a 1864.62 points.

Furthermore, the sensitive index, which assesses the performance of 'A' class stocks, saw a 0.86 percent rise, gaining 3.08 points and concluding at 358.83 points. The float index, reflecting the performance of actively traded shares, rose by 0.78 percent, adding 1.00 points to reach 129.43 points.

During the day's trading session, a total of 3,813,233 units of shares from 289 diverse companies were exchanged in 45,456 transactions, resulting in a significant turnover of Rs 1.008 billion. This marks a notable decrease in daily turnover compared to Monday's figure of Rs 1.253 billion. The overall market capitalization reached an impressive Rs 2.861 trillion.

For the day, most sub-indices showed positive performance, with only three sub-indices - the Trading index, Non-Life Insurance index, and Hotels and Tourism index - witnessing declines of 1.25 percent, 0.53 percent, and 0.27 percent, respectively. On the other hand, the Finance index led the pack of gainers with a 1.30 percent increase, followed by the Banking sub-index with a 1.10 percent gain, and the Mutual Fund index with a 1.06 percent increase.

Hathway Investment Nepal Limited had a challenging day, marked by an 8.53 percent drop, making it the top loser. Interestingly, Hathway also topped the charts for turnover, volume, and transactions, with a total of 159,547 units of its shares traded in 7,504 transactions, amounting to a total of Rs 46,269,248.

On the whole, 173 stocks advanced, 57 declined, and 7 remained unchanged in today's trading session.
