KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 2

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, the sole secondary market of the country, rose slightly on Monday by 5.19 points or 0.26 percent to reach 1976.29 points. It had dropped by 33.20 points on Sunday.

In today's trading, the sensitive index, which measures the performance of class 'A' stocks, also rose by 0.17 percent or 0.66 points to 378.06 points. Similarly, the float index, which gauges the performance of shares actually traded, also rose by 0.28 percent or 0.38 points to 137.91 points.

Altogether, 5,776,896 shares of 286 scrips were traded during the day through 85,591 transactions, amounting to a turnover of over Rs 1.737 billion. The total turnover was less than Sunday's Rs 1.814 billion.

In today's market, all the sub-indices were in the green except for Hotels and Tourism and Manufacturing and processing indices which lost 0.92 per cent and 0.09 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, Development bank index was the top gainer with 1.33 per cent rise followed by the mutual fund indice with 1 per cent gain.

The total market capitalization in today's trading was at Rs 3.013 trillion which was an increase from Sunday's Rs 2.988 trillion
