Shares of the majority of life insurance companies were traded at 10 per cent circuit

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 26

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gained 71.20 points on Sunday to reach 2591.42 points, indicating a 2.82 per cent rise.

Both the sensitive index and the float index increased in the country's sole secondary market, with the sensitive index hitting 482.74, a gain of 5.38 points or 1.13 per cent. The float index also increased by 4.58 points, or 2.65 per cent, to 177.62 points.

On the first trading day of the week, the majority of the sub indices were in the green, with the life insurance index leading the pack with a 9.78 per cent gain, followed by the non-life insurance index with an 8.17 per cent gain.

The banking index and the hydropower index were the only two indices in today's market to show a negative trend, with the finance index falling 1.12 per cent and the hydropower index declining 0.12 per cent.

A total of 8,601,956 units of shares of 231 companies were traded today at a price of Rs 5.173 billion.

Shares of the majority of life insurance companies were traded at 10 per cent circuit in today's market.

The total market capitalisation at the end of the day was Rs 3.655 trillion.
