The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) suspended Monday's regular trading session following a technical problem at a data centre hosting the servers of 72 brokerage firms.
NEPSE said the issue at Data Hub Pvt Ltd had persisted since the morning of September 20 and efforts were underway to resolve it. The exchange warned that continuing market operations under the circumstances could potentially damage its trading system.
The decision came after the Stock Brokers Association of Nepal (SBAN) requested that regular trading be halted until the technical problem was resolved.
NEPSE said it suspended trading on September 21 under Rule 21(1) of the Securities Listing and Trading Regulation, 2018.
The stock exchange expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to investors and other market participants, stating that normal trading would resume once the technical issues affecting the brokerage data centre are fully addressed.
