KATHMANDU, JULY 13

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged by 29.00 points (1.06%) on Sunday, closing at 2,760.80 points, marking a strong start to the trading week.

The session saw upward momentum across key indices. The Float Index, which measures actively traded stocks, increased by 1.36%, while the Sensitive Index, which tracks class 'A' stocks, rose by 1.94%.

Sector-wise, performance was mixed. Eight sectors posted gains while five declined. The Microfinance sector led the gainers with a 3.50% increase, followed by the Banking sector with a 3.37% rise. The Finance sector gained 1.87%, Development Banks rose by 1.47%, and Mutual Funds posted a 1.08% gain. Other sectors saw less than 1% movement either way.

The day's total turnover reached Rs 11.41 billion, with 32.59 million shares of 311 companies traded across 105,415 transactions.

Out of the traded stocks, 158 gained, while 90 declined.

The market capitalization at the close stood at Rs 4.6 trillion.
