The country's sole secondary market sailed past 2,600 with Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surging by 1.68 per cent or 43.36 points, today.
The benchmark index, which had opened at 2,536.66 points, has reached 2,619.03 points at the end of the trading day.
Likewise, the sensitive index measuring the performance of Class 'A' stocks went up to 463.59 points with a 1.64 per cent change. The float index that gauges the performance of shares actually traded also rose by 1.90 per cent to 180.59 points.
A total of 11,281,625 unit shares of altogether 209 companies were traded at Rs 6.166 billion in the market today.
All sub-indices recorded gains except for the Trading index that recorded a loss of 98.99 points.
The Non-Life Insurance sector led the pack of gainers with the sub-index jumping by 2.62 per cent or 349.68 points to 13,674.44 points.
Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Ltd (HIDCL) was the forerunner in two categories -- trading volume and turnover, with 799,253 of its shares traded that amounted to Rs 363 million, while Nepal Infrastructure Bank (NIFRA) was the top company in terms of transactions amounting to 4,864.
