Benchmark index drops 0.99pc as turnover reaches Rs 7 billion

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 30

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) fell by 26.51 points on Sunday, the first trading day of the week, closing at 2,649.52 points, a decline of 0.99 percent.

The downturn extended across the broader market, with the Sensitive Index, which tracks class 'A' stocks, decreasing by 1.01 percent, while the Float Index, representing actively traded shares, slipped by 1.12 percent.

Sectoral performance also remained largely negative, with most groups closing lower. Only two sectors managed to stay in the green: Manufacturing & Processing, which rose 0.73 percent, and the Mutual Fund sector, up 0.04 percent. No sector recorded a loss of over 2 percent. The biggest declines came from the Investment sector (down 1.48 percent), followed by Hydropower (down 1.31 percent) and Microfinance (down 1.30 percent).

Today the daily turnover reached Rs 7 billion from the trading of 15,736,372 shares belonging to 342 companies across 84,156 transactions.

By the close of trading, NEPSE's total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.448 trillion.

In individual stock movement, 45 companies gained, 211 declined, and one remained unchanged. Only Sagar Distillery Limited (SAGAR) hit the upper circuit of 10 percent for the day.
