KATHMANDU, JANUARY 9

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, the country's lone secondary market, jumped 73.05 points to 2,765.51 points, signifying a 2.71 per cent increase, on Sunday.

Similarly, the market today experienced a substantial increase in daily turnover, with a total of 15,058,621 units of shares from 239 firms changing hands for Rs 7.101 billion.

The turnover recorded today has marked a significant increase far above Rs 3.676 billion turnover that was registered on Thursday.

Likewise, the sensitive index increased by 13.21 points, or 2.61 per cent, to 519.37 points. The float index also rose 5.07 points, or 2.73 per cent, to 190.49 points.

Today, all of the sub-indices were up, with the trade index leading the pack with a 6.08 per cent gain, followed by the development bank index and finance index with 5.49 and 5.16 per cent gains, respectively.

At the end of the day, the total market capitalisation stood at Rs 3.906 trillion.
