KATHMANDU, JULY 17
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued its bullish momentum on Thursday, soaring by 75.84 points or 2.71% to close at 2,870.63 points - crossing the 2,800 mark for the first time in recent weeks.
All major indices posted gains. The Float Index rose by 2.29%, while the Sensitive Index, which tracks Class 'A' companies, jumped by 12.62%.
Sector-wise, the market remained broadly positive, with all sectors in the green. The 'Others' sector led the gains with a rise of 5.09%, followed by Investment (3.17%), Life Insurance (3.14%), Hydropower (3.04%), Manufacturing and Processing (2.94%), Finance (2.89%), Hotels and Tourism (2.60%), Microfinance (2.50%), and Non-Life Insurance (2.18%).
Investor participation also rose significantly, with daily turnover reaching Rs 16.59 billion - up from Rs 14.03 billion the previous day. A total of 38.63 million shares of 311 companies were traded in 141,434 transactions.
Out of the traded stocks, 240 advanced, only nine declined, and Trade Tower Limited (TTL) hit the upper circuit limit of 10%.
With the continued rally, total market capitalization reached Rs 4.783 trillion by the close of Thursday's session.
