KATHMANDU, JULY 16
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued its upward momentum for a second consecutive day on Wednesday, rising by 34.61 points or 1.25% to close at 2,794.78 points by the end of the trading session.
The day's trading saw gains across all major indices. The Float Index, which reflects the performance of actively traded stocks, increased by 1.63%, while the Sensitive Index, tracking Class 'A' companies, climbed by 1.39%.
Sector-wise, the market trend remained broadly positive. The Development Bank sector emerged as the top gainer, surging by 3.85%, while the Trading sector was the only segment to post a decline, edging down by 0.18%.
Investor activity saw a notable increase, with total daily turnover jumping to Rs 14.03 billion from Rs 9.41 billion on Tuesday. A total of 43,111,416 shares of 330 companies changed hands in 99,505 transactions.
Out of the traded stocks, 193 advanced while 55 declined as two stocks 10% KBL Debenture 2090 (KBLD90) and Three Star Hydropower Limited (TSHL) hitting the upper circuit limit of 10%. The market's continued rally pushed total market capitalization to Rs 4.656 trillion by the end of the day.
