KATHMANDU, MAY 20

Nepali Congress Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat on Tuesday said that the appointment of a new Governor at Nepal Rastra Bank will be finalized soon.

Speaking at an interaction with journalists in Gorkha, Mahat dismissed speculations of discord within the ruling coalition, calling the alliance stable and based on mutual understanding. "This is a high-level coalition, and it requires understanding each other's perspectives. A coalition, by nature, demands a shared vision," he said.

Highlighting the strength of the current coalition, he noted that it was formed due to the absence of a clear majority and is more stable than previous alliances. "Those in government must act responsibly to avoid creating doubts about its unity," he added.

He expressed confidence that the ongoing process to appoint a new Governor at Nepal Rastra Bank would be resolved soon.

Mahat also acknowledged signs of improvement in the national economy but stressed the need for a second-phase recovery plan. "We've seen some progress, but it's not enough," he said.
