KATHMANDU, JUNE 13

The Non-Resident Nepalis (NRN) in Africa have come together to jointly invest in the energy, agriculture, infrastructure and other sectors in Nepal.

Around 100 NRNs from various countries of the African continent have united in a bid to launch NRN Africa Ventures Limited to start investing in various sectors of Nepal.

The company that currently has a capital of Rs 1 billion is expected to be joined in by NRNs from other countries, as well those NRNs who have already returned to Nepal.

As per a statement issued by the group, the company has already started preliminary works for conducting investment.

"This is a new start in the continuous efforts of the NRNs to contribute further to make Nepal prosperous," claimed Hikmat Thapa, chair of the Association.

Prior to this, NRNs from Africa have already invested in infrastructure, energy health production and other various sectors of Nepal, added Chair Thapa.

Although the company has only around 100 NRNs from African countries as investors, it has initiated a campaign to bring together over 1000 NRNs from all over Africa, he added.

The company will not only invest in Nepal but also bring back the experiences and technical knowledge earned by the NRNs, claimed Roshan Thapa, director at the company.

This latest attempt to invest in Nepal from Africa will influence other NRNs to invest in the development of the country, elaborated another Director Dipak Karna, while adding, this attempt will also look to facilitate previous businesses and investments made by the NRN-Africa in the country under one umbrella.
