NT mobile to ring in Dhawalagiri

Baglung, June 5:

Nepal Telecom (NT) is preparing to extend its mobile services to Dhawalagiri zone. “It is going to install BTS, an important radio equipment for mobile services to reform and extend mobile services to Baglung, Parbat and Myagdi districts,” said sources in the telecom office.

“We are installing essential equipment to improve services,” said Prem Prakash Gurung, chief at the NT Baglung branch, adding that preparation is underway to install new BTS in Baglung, Bihukot and Galkot. NT has recently reconstructed the Gaja-based repeater tower that was damaged during the Maoist insurgency.

“After the installation of BTS, rural people in Baglung, Palpa and Myagdi districts can use mobile phones at their VDCs. At present, NT is running mobile services with the help of BTS (900 megahertz band) in Baglung, Parbat’s Kusma and Beni.

“NT is also preparing to install a mini-BTS in Baglung municipality for reliable services,” Gurung said, adding that NT is planning to extend its services to Mustang district within the year. Similarly, NT is going to distribute mobile SIM cards to people of Galkot in Baglung, Phalebas in Parbat and Galeshwor in Myagdi.
