KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 13
Around 4,725 metric tons of apples have been exported from Jumla to other districts since mid-July, according to the District Agriculture Development Office.
According to the office, apple dispatches are still underway, particularly of Fuji and local varieties, and that total production and sales figures will be finalized by mid-December.
The district produced apples worth Rs 330.75 million this year, though overall output has slightly declined compared to last year.
Over 70 percent of households in Jumla are engaged in apple farming, earning between Rs 45,000 and Rs 100,000 per season.
This year, Jumla is expected to produce about 13,000 metric tons of apples-among the lowest yields in the past two years.
Of the total 4,445 hectares under apple cultivation, fruiting occurred in 2,125 hectares. Major varieties include Red, Royal, and Golden Delicious, alongside newer types like Fuji Gala and Stark Crimson Delicious.
