KATHMANDU, JULY 1

Motorists and households will pay less for fuel from Wednesday after the Nepal Oil Corporation announced a sharp reduction in the prices of petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and cooking gas.

Under the new rates, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 20 per litre, while diesel and kerosene are cheaper by Rs 30 per litre. The price of domestic aviation fuel has been cut by Rs 40 per litre, international aviation fuel supplied at Kathmandu airport by US$265 per kilolitre, and LP gas by Rs 100 per cylinder. Prices of international aviation fuel supplied at Pokhara and Bhairahawa airports have been fixed at the break-even level.

Following the revision, petrol will cost Rs 194.50, Rs 196 and Rs 197 per litre in the first, second and third pricing categories, respectively.

Diesel and kerosene will be priced at Rs 192.50, Rs 194 and Rs 195 per litre across the three categories. A 14.2-kg LP gas cylinder will now cost Rs 2,060, down from Rs 2,160.

The corporation said the price adjustment was made after receiving the latest fuel procurement rates from the Indian Oil Corporation, which showed a decline in the international prices of petroleum products.

According to NOC, the import price fell by Rs 15.09 per litre for petrol, Rs 29.46 for diesel, Rs 29.42 for aviation fuel, while the import cost of LP gas also declined.
