The government formed the probe committee on December 7th to investigate compliance with existing laws regarding the decision to sell and purchase Ncell shares, revenue, and potential impacts on foreign investment. Former Auditor General Sharma was appointed as the coordinator of the committee.
Members of the committee included Secretary of the Government of Nepal, Phanindra Gautam, Joint-Secretary of the Finance Ministry, Ritesh Kumar Shakya, Joint-Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Baburam Bhandari, and President of ICAN, Sujan Kumar Kafle.
Although the probe committee was given a one-month timeline to submit the report, the deadline was extended after the committee failed to complete the task within the set timeframe.
