SCBN’s CSR initiative

KATHMANDU: Standard Chartered Bank Nepal (SCBN) has donated Rs 3.72 million to Maiti Nepal under its sustainability initiative ‘Futuremakers by Standard Chartered’ to support the latter’s project to produce low-cost sanitary napkins.

SCBN had earlier this month donated two units of sanitary pad producing machines to start the project. The project aims to empower vulnerable girls and women through production of low-cost sanitary napkins that promotes safe menstrual hygiene at affordable cost.

At a special function organised at Maiti Nepal, Eva Ang, regional head of corporate affairs, brand and marketing for ASEAN and South Asia; Sharon Lee, head of CABM cluster markets and head of brand and marketing for Singapore; and Pranu Singh, head of corporate affairs, brand and marketing for Nepal, handed over the sum to Biswo Khadka, chairman of Maiti Nepal.

On the same occasion, 20 laptops were also handed over to facilitate education of young girls and children of Maiti Nepal, as per a press release.
