Standard Chartered starts online banking

Kathmandu, March 4:

Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd (SCBNL) — the largest international bank in Nepal that is operating here since 1987 — launched its online banking services from February 29.

“We accomplished yet another milestone with the introduction of online banking,” Sujit Mundul, chief executive officer (CEO) of the bank, said, adding that the online banking — that can be concurrently used by thousands around the globe — is user-friendly, ring-fenced and needs no manual intervention.

“The bank’s online banking service will bring a sea-change in the perception of consumer banking in Nepal,” he also informed.

“SCBNL online banking is a comprehensive internet banking solution and shares Standard Chartered Group’s secured global online platform, confidently accessed by millions of its customers worldwide,” he added.

The system has ‘Two Factor Authentication, a security feature that makes personal updates and financial transactions absolutely secure, stable and as per international standards. It provides opportunity to make online fund transfers and non-financial transactions.

“The customers can now get a majority of their banking needs catered to from anywhere and anytime,” Anju Sharma, head of Consumer Banking at the SCBNL that offers a full range of banking products and services in wholesale and consumer banking, said.
