Use of ICT urged in freight forwarding

Experts and freight forwarders today stressed on the need of applying Internet enabled services in freight forwarding and logistic service industry to facilitate international trade.
Speaking at an interaction organised by Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) in an association with Starlight Express and Descartes Group Inc, they emphasised on exploiting benefits of the internet enabled services and information communication tools.
They further said that introduction of e-airway bill, e-payment and electronic data interchange (EDI) systems would enhance competitiveness as well as facilitate export-import business of the country.
Namgyal Lama, president of NEFFA, urged the Nepali freight forwarders to apply ICT tools and Internet enabled services in their business, which will make the business competitive, save cost and time and ultimately promote trade.
Presenting a paper, Jan Markill, sales director of EMEA Global Logistic Network, Denmark highlighted benefits of adoption of internet enabled services and ICT tools.
