A two-day long workshop on rural micro-finance, organised by Rural Micro Finance Development Centre Ltd (RMDC), concluded in the capital today. The workshop was organised with the objective of developing business culture and professionalism in organisations with dynamic leadership. Strategic approaches to viable and sustainable micro finance institutions were discussed in the workshop. "Under-privileged community should be supported even with a small amount which it can then multiply with skill. This should be the main motto of micro finance institutions," said Shanker Man Shrestha, executive director of RMDC. At a time when banking sector is unable to perform, micro finance organisation are performing successfully with their rural poverty alleviation programmes, he added.

Participants at the workshop expressed that the workshop proved fruitful to share ideas, problems and look for remedies. It has been a platform to know about how similar kind of organisations are running in different parts of the country.
