KATHMANDU, JULY 22

The price of yellow metal increased while that of silver remained unchanged in the trading week between July 16 and 21.

In the domestic market, gold price increased by Rs 600 per tola during the review week.

According to the rate list of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Sil-ver Dealers' Association (FeNe- GoSiDA), gold price was fixed at Rs 112,200 a tola when the market opened for trading on Sunday and remained unchained till Monday. Gold price rose by Rs 300 per tola on Tuesday and again by Rs 600 a tola to Rs 113,100 per tola on Wednesday. The price of yellow metal increased by Rs 500 a tola, reaching an all-time high price of Rs 113,600 per tola on Thursday before dropping by Rs 800 a tola to settle at Rs 112,800 a tola for the trading week.

Meanwhile, silver was traded at Rs 1,480 per tola on Sunday and it remained unchained until Tuesday.

The price of the grey metal increased by Rs 10 a tola on Wednesday before increasing by five rupees per tola on Thursday to be traded at Rs 1,495 a tola. The price of silver further decreased by Rs 15 per tola on Friday to settle at Rs 1,480 a tola for the week.

According to international news agencies, gold prices slipped on Friday as the dollar rebounded to its highest in more than a week after positive weekly US jobs data renewed uncertainty over whether the Federal Reserve will stop raising interest rates after an expected increase next week.
