‘Hendrix’s Welsh anthem’

LONDON: Legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix supposedly played and recorded the Welsh national anthem just before he died in 1970, claims a London producer. Hendrix was famous for playing the American Star Spangled Banner but an old dusty eight-track tape found in a tea chest in London suggests he might have also played the Welsh national anthem Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, Land of My Fathers, reports contactmusic.com. Many experts claim the tape is authentic, but many fans are not sure of the legitimacy of the recording. Martin Davies, owner of the tape, says it is genuine and the song is at the end of a recording session by Hendrix’s friends, the New Flames.
