Some members of audience were watching in awe while others were grabbing each other’s hand tightly... a natural reaction on seeing two human bodies suspended from hooks that had been put through body piercings.

Aitor Barrios Moly and Maria De Lluc Chicow — two members from the Spanish team had their bodies suspended from the hooks. Hooks were pierced on the chest and back of Moly while Chicow had hooks on her back and knees. And as Alex Pereiro Barros, another team member pushed and rotated these suspended artists, blood dripped from their body parts.

Closing their eyes, the artists seemed like meditating — there was no sign of pain or fear. And 18-year-old Upasana Subedi was “excited and terrified at the same time” to see the act. “I had never seen such acts before,” expressed Subedi, who was there at the event with her friends.

Body suspension act is one of the major attractions of the Convention every year. Traditional dance performance from Vajra Kala Kunja (Bhaktapur) also entertained the audience.
