Soccer star David Beckham says he spent an hour on the phone consulting his friend and Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise before finalising his move to Los Angeles.

“I phoned him and said there might be an announcement. Obviously I’d asked him for his advice as well because he’s a very wise man and he’s a very good friend of mine,” the footballer was quoted as saying by contact-music.com.

Beckham, who is going along with wife Victoria and children Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, is enjoying positive news reports after suffering the humiliation of losing his place in the England team following the miserable World Cup campaign.

Instead of lamenting his ageing form, Beckham is now looking forward to interacting with Hollywood celebrities who are their friends.He added, “It’s going to be a big help for us ... to have friends actually when we arrive in LA.”
