KATHMANDU: The sequel of hit Nepali film Saayad will go on the floors on May 2. Titled Saayad 2, it is a love story written by Sunil Rawal and will be directed by Pussparaj T Neupane.

A press meet was held at Anupam Hotel, Guashala, on April 26, where Durgish Films announced its upcoming ventures. And Saayad 2 is one of them. Shooting dates of two other films Laure and Love Number were also announced at the event.

Saayad 2 will feature Sushil Shrestha, Khusal Pandey and Sharon Shrestha in the lead roles. Hostel Returns star Sushil, who was present at the press meet, shared, “I want to prove myself through my acting rather than talking. I will act better than in Hostel Returns.”

Similarly, Laure will start shooting on July 7. Nigam Shrestha is the film’s director with Bikram Singh and Salin Man Baniya in the lead roles. The remaining cast is yet to be finalised.

Love Number set to go on the floors on February 18, 2017, will be directed by Keshab Pandey. Its cast hasn’t been finalised. All the three films are produced by Rawal, Ishwor Shrestha, and Suvash Lamichhane.

It is a rare case in Nepali film industry where a production house has announced shooting dates of three movies together. But Neupane feels that “Nepali film industry is being commercial day-by-day, and we have to do more for its betterment”.

The director who has gained some experience in Bollywood — one of the largest film industries in the world — expressed, “ I believe Nepali film industry will also be grand soon”.

Durgish Films has produced some successful Nepali films like Saayad, Hostel and Hostel Returns, and has given platform to new talents — Samyam Puri, Wilson Bikram Rai, Anmol KC, Salon Basnet, Prakriti Shrestha, Najir Hussien, Sushil Shrestha, Sushil Sitaula and Swastima Khadka.
