Expression through music

KATHMANDU: The third album of singer Lochan Rijal was launched amidst a function at the Nepal Music Centre on October 4. Titled Maanis, the eight songs in the album tries to bring out the different aspects of human emotions and feelings.

All the songs have been written and composed by the singer himself and are rather introspective. While talking about the album he said, “This album is very valuable for me because I have tried to bring out new expressions through these songs. This album is like a platform of my expression.

The lyrics are about simple things in our life and the situations that we Nepalis have gone through in the last couple of years.”

In terms of music the songs has elements of gypsy jazz, modern jazz and progressive rock.

Rijal also added that the melody has a huge influence of Nepali music of 50s to 70s.

During the launch musician Subha Bahadur Sunam said, “A voice like Lochan’s is something that Nepali music lovers have been looking for”. Music video of Chipleti (freedom Song) was also released at the event. The album has been produced by Music Nepal.
