Mahima in a stellar role

MUMBAI: Tanuja Chandra, who specialises in women-oriented themes (Dushman, Sanghursh, Sur), is ready with her new film Film Star, starring Mahima Chaudhary, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Aryan Vaid and Vasundhara Das in pivotal roles. The USPs of Film Star include a novel story (a fading actress who picks up a real-life story to boost her sagging career) and several intense sequences that showcase Tanuja’s talent to the fullest. While Mahima enacts the role of the fading actress with elan, Priyanshu is highly competent as an alcoholic lawyer. Aryan Vaid, who was introduced in Market recently, enacts the main negative role to perfection. As for Vasundhara, she adds grace to a complex role. Film Star is slated for release this May.

Zayad hits it off with SRK

MUMBAI: With the stiff competition between Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan, one wondered what brother-in-law Zayad Khan’s (Hrithik’s wife Suzzane happens to be Zayad’s sister) experience was working with the King Khan. “Frankly, on the first day I felt a bit awkward. Here was a superstar! And I am just one film old! But believe me, Shah Rukh and I hit it off from day one. I learnt a lot from him. If he is a superstar today, it because of sheer hard work! Like him, I want to give my best too.” Zayad and Shah Rukh will be seen in Main Hoon Na. Besides Main Hoon Na, Zayad also has Shabd that is likely to star Ajay Devgan and Aishwarya Rai. “There is also a film with Puneet Sira. Fardeen and I come together for the first time in this untitled venture.”

Post-marriage Ravs glows

MUMBAI: The bride is glowing! Raveena Tandon has never felt anything like this before. “Everybody should get married! I am feeling eternal bliss,” she laughs. But the work pressures kept Tandon away from her honeymoon that she was looking forward to. “After our marriage I had to rush to Kolkata for an endorsement. Then I had to dub for Feroz Nadiadwala’s Aan. He wants to release the film in April and cannot wait any longer. I may be doing the sequel to Hera Pheri.” But the one role that she is looking forward to is Sahib, Biwi Aur Ghulam. “This is the first time that I’m doing a television serial. It is something that I’m looking forward to. I will give my own interpretation to Meena Kumari’s role.”

Suniel in a black mood

MUMBAI: Playing negative characters seem to have become an in thing with our heroes. Besides, John and Ajay, it is Suniel Shetty now who will once again (in Rudraksh he played Raavan, remember) be seen playing a villain Raaghavan, “…which is out and out a negative character. There is no justification for why he does and what he does. He enjoys being a sadist,” Suniel said.

Amisha, Kareena at war

MUMBAI: Kareena is famous for putting her foot in her mouth. In an interview to the press the actress reacted to one of the any statements made by her contemporary Amisha Patel. “I don’t what problem does Amisha Patel have with me. Why does she have to mention me in her interviews just to gain mileage? Why can’t she leave me alone,” Kareena said. Amisha reportedly bad-mouthed Kareena saying that she had an attitude problem. The Amisha-Kareena conflict has a long history which started when Amisha replaced Kareena in Kaho Na Pyar Hai. The cold war continued when sister Karisma insisted that Amisha be dropped from the shows that were conducted a few years ago. A patch up seems to be a distant dream.
