Islington wins Daraz Championship Case Study award
KATHMANDU: Leaving behind participants from five other colleges, the students of Islington College won the first position at the grand finale of the Daraz Championship Case Study, held at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Durbar Marg on July 22. The winners won a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
Kantipur Valley College bagged the second position and Ace International Business School took the third position. The winners of the second and third positions were awarded with cash prizes of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
Utsav Rai from Kantipur Valley College was declared the Best Presenter and awarded a laptop bag worth Rs 2,500.
In the competition jointly organised by Daraz Kaymu and Ace Institute of Management, the students were given different cases and were asked to come forth with analytical, creative and problem solving ideas. Among the 18 participant colleges, six were selected for the final round.
Subu Shrestha, Director, Business Advantage Group; Ajay Shrestha, former CEO, Bank of Kathmandu, and Sanjay Golchha, Director of Golchha Group adjudged the students’ presentations for the finale.
In the finale, the students were given private label fashion case studies and were asked to come up with a new brand, marketing strategy, operation, ways to decrease delivery time and future brands.
“The event is organised to bridge the gap between corporate sector and academics. It is a part of Daraz Future Leadership Program where we are selecting the top students and training them so that they could lead the team in our organisation,” informed Sushobhan Manandhar, Head of PR Marketing and Partnerships, Daraz Kaymu.
“It was really a great experience. I am happy. It’s a motivation for us,” shared Pranay Agrawal, one of the winners from Islington College.
“It’s an effective tool of teaching and learning in business school,” commented Ashish Tiwari, Principal-Director, Ace Institute of Management.
