Narendra Shrestha's photo bags Photo of the Year award
KATHMANDU: Photo Journalist Narendra Shrestha was awarded the first prize in the Photo of the Year category in the IME-Global IME Nepal Photo Competition-2018 organized by Photo Journalists' Club in the capital city.
Shrestha had captured a photo of a person releasing the dead body of his five-year-old child in the Koshi River after the floods at Kulari village of Saptari district last year. Photo journalist Shrestha received cash prize of Rs 100,000.
Likewise, Dipendra Rokka's photo secured first prize under 'Shikar Insurance Nepal Smile' category while Narendra's became second and Suraj Shrestha's the third.
Sunita Dangol earned first prize in the category of 'IMS Daily Life', while Durga Ranamagar and Keshab Thapa got the second and third prizes.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota, organizing body Chairman Bikash Karki and others handed over the prizes to the winners.
Narendra Shrestha announced that he would provide Rs 70,000 to the family of Kamal Sada, who died in the inundation in Saptari last year and Rs 30,000 to the family of journalist Yadav Thapaliya.
