KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 9
The Nepali documentary Zero to 8848 premiered at AMC North DeKalb 16, Atlanta, on Saturday, drawing a full audience including U.S. dignitaries and members of the Nepali community.
Senator Sheikh Rahman, Clarkston Mayor Beverly H. Burks, and musician Om Bikram Bista attended the premiere as special guests. The event also saw participation from American officials and Nepali associations based in the U.S.
Directed by Niranjan Pandey and Balram Budhathoki, with the concept by journalist Prem Baniya, the 106-minute film documents the journey from Kachankawal in Jhapa (58 m) to the summit of Mt. Everest (8,848 m)-the world's shortest route from sea level to the highest point on Earth.
The film, produced by Zero to 8848 Entertainment with a budget of around USD 1 million, explores Nepal's geography, biodiversity, and culture while highlighting issues related to climate change.
According to the organizers, Zero to 8848 will be screened in other U.S. states and later released internationally.
