Nepathya to perform in New Zealand
KATHMANDU: After enthralling the Nepali diasporas in Adelaide recently, the popular folk rock band Nepathya has officially extended their show to Auckland, New Zealand.
The band would be organising a concert at the Kiwi Island in Auckland on the July 28, read a press statement issued today.
"The show in New Zealand was already agreed upon some time ago, but due to traveling, we did not have time to send our passport for visa processing. We therefore arranged to apply for the Kiwi Visa from Australia and started the process once we arrived here," said Arpan Sharma of Nepalaya.
“We are glad to confirm that our visas have been approved and we can now formally announce our show in Auckland,” he added.
The show in New Zealand is being considered as the first 'proper' Nepali concert in this island nation.
Raj Maharjan of Aroha Events said, "This is to be a historic event for the Nepalis living here, as this is the first proper Nepali concert in a professional concert venue. I am confident the Nepali community here will come together to celebrate this opportunity.”
Nepathya is celebrating their 25th year and the band has opened-up possibilities for small communities to host their shows.
"Yes it has been 25 years and I am indebted to all the listeners who accepted us and all the musicians who contributed to make Nepathya, what it is today," stated Nepathya frontman Amrit Gurung.
"I am glad to be celebrating this with our well wishers in Australia and New Zealand," he added.
The band is scheduled to perform at the Big Top Auditorium in Sydney on July 22.
